REPORT A POTHOLE
Old and damaged roads are a threat to us when we are riding. When you report road wear like potholes you are helping your fellow cyclist be safer, so get involved and help make Marin County a better place to ride!
Here are some contacts you can use to take action. The more of us that The list below provides telephone numbers and email addresses for the County of Marin (overseeing unincorporated areas), all towns and cities (the incorporated areas), Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), and Caltrans (state roads). The email addresses appear as a link on each contact name below, and will either take you to a direct email or to a web page with a form you can submit. MCBC will be cc’d automatically on all emails except those sent using a web page form.
Potholes and damaged roads can be dangerous for cyclists as well as motorists and pedestrians. Reporting a pothole immediately puts the town or county on notice and enhances the chances of any legal action taken as the result of injury resulting from the reported, but not fixed problem. And unless enough people report a problem nothing will happen.
If you know of a location where something needs to be fixed, please use the links and forms below to let each city, Marin County or California state official know so they will do something about it.
Please be specific that you are requesting maintenance (ie. filling a pothole, sweeping road shoulders, repairing cracks, etc.) and clearly identify the location of the problem (ie. “the pothole is on the northbound lane of Steep Hill Road, along the stretch between the Filler Up Bar and West Avenue”). Note the street addresses and/or mileage marker signs (if they exist). Public staff are usually quite busy and will respond better to your request if you include courtesies like “please” and “thank you”. Also, take a photograph of the hazard to share with department staff, if possible.
